We are an independently owned & operated restaurant committed to doing our best to take care of our team. Part of that care is continuing the work to make our industry professional and livable.
We have eliminated the need for customers to leave a tip. We charge an 18% service fee on every check for in-house dining (and 10% for carry out). Because we offer a casual counter style service, this service fee is below the standard 20%. This fee allows us to pay our previously tipped employees a consistent, living wage, well above minimum.
Restaurants have long relied on inexpensive labor and shortcuts to make ends meet, and the actual costs of running a restaurant are often mistaken with the simple costs of food and beverage. The reality is that the product costs are usually the lowest prime cost in a restaurant, with labor generally being the highest, especially at establishments where team members don’t rely on tips to meet the minimum.
All costs have continually risen since we opened, particularly during the last 3 years. The service fee we charge allows us to cover our costs while paying our team a living wage, which includes paid time off and benefits.
